#3 BUNN BT Velocity Brew 10-Cup Thermal Carafe Home Coffee Brewer
Bunn’s coffee brewing technology has been used for more than 40 years in the restaurant industry, and now offers their perfect coffee brewing system for home use. The Bunn BT Velocity can brew 10 cups of excellent-quality coffee in just 3-4 minutes. The Bunn coffeemaker features an internal hot water tank (takes around two full carafes to fill completely) that keeps water at the optimal brewing temperature of approximately 200 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the device to easily brew a pot of coffee in no time. Additionally, its unique sprayhead design creates the turbulence needed to wet the coffee grounds evenly and extract perfect flavor. BUNN is proud to say that their Home Coffee Brewer has the ‘3 Ts’ (Temperature, Time, Turbulence) needed for a flavorful coffee, where each ‘T’ is precisely calibrated.
The users of the Bunn BT Velocity Brewer are very well pleased with the quality of coffee it produces, but less pleased with how the unit looks. There are consumers who did not like the design because the unit is large and has a plastic look. The Bunn Coffeemaker also lacks controls or the programmable features, and it would take some time to get used to the Bunn brewing system. However once you get used with it, the coffeemaker is a breeze to operate and you will surely enjoy brewing quality coffee swiftly. Get the BUNN BT Velocity Coffeemaker if you’re looking for a drip coffeemaker that can quickly brew 10 cups of delicious coffee, and don’t mind its weird design quirks. The Bunn BT Velocity coffeemaker comes with a thermal carafe and has a 3-Year manufacturer’s warranty. Read more

#5 Cuisinart DCC-2650 Brew Central 12-Cup with Glass Carafe
Want an automatic drip coffee maker that’s more programmable, can brew more cups of good tasting coffee, and is cheaper than our #1 coffee maker pick? Then the DCC-2650 from Cuisinart should be your choice! Coffee lovers will definitely find most of their favorite features in this large capacity coffee maker. Coffee lovers can now choose how strong they want their coffee to be, as the brewer offers both regular and bold flavor strength settings. While the machine can brew a family size 12 cups of coffee, consumers can also set it to brew for less than 5 cups with its 1-4 cups settings. But the feature that most consumers liked about the coffeemaker is the brew-pause function which enabled them to pour a quick cup of coffee even if the machine is still brewing. Once the carafe is replaced it will continue the brewing cycle, very handy. Consumers also praised how the water level is now more visible compared to the older version (DCC 1200) and the included charcoal water filter which continues to be a valued component. #8 Black & Decker 12-cup Thermal Coffee Maker
This is an extremely low budget buy, for a 12-cup Coffee maker. The large capacity, double walled carafe is surprisingly light even when full. It will not drip when pouring, and the wide mouth of the Carafe make it easy to clean with a damp spounge.
Of course you can choose a smaller batch (1-4 cups) when a full brew is not needed.
The “Brew Strength” selector feature means you can customize your Coffee as needed choosing from Strong, Normal and Bold brewing options. You also have the option of pre programming the unit.
Some owners suggested that the carafe will not keep Coffee hot much past an hour, but as a pre-programmable unit for an Office breaks room, (where it gets plenty of use and not much TLC) this might be just what you are looking for.
Amazon’s Customer Ratings: 3.8 stars (1,498 Customer Reviews)

- Extremely good value at this price

Choose the Best Coffee Maker for your Lifestyle
Decisions to Guide your Coffee Maker Selection
How much Coffee do you need?
This is a pretty simple question to answer. How many people will be looking for Coffee at peak times (like breakfast, or at Office Breaks), and how many cups is each likely to consume?. That should tell you whether an 8, 10 or 12 cup Coffee maker will best suit your needs.
If it is only for you, and 1 or 2 cups is enough a Single serve coffee machine (with the convenience of no cleaning) might be the answer. But that benefit will be of little comfort if you need to make 6-8 cups of coffee with it before breakfast.
What type of Coffee do you really enjoy?
This is another fundamental question, and the easiest way to answer it is to consider what sort of coffee you habitually order at your favorite coffee shop.
Do you demand Espresso, Lattes, and Cappuccinos etc ? If you do, and think that buying a multi-cup coffee brewing machine to use at home will save some money, Think again. Will you really use your coffee maker, and if you do, will you get any satisfaction from the Coffee you brew?
Whats more important-Up Front or Long Term Costs?
We have gone into depth to work out the actual cost of a home made Coffee, but for this conversation the question is about the Coffee Maker, not the Brew. Whether you decide that you need to lay out the money for an Espresso Machine, or if you prefer a multi-cup Coffee brewer for home or office, you can still easily spend many hundreds of dollars to get the top of the line option, with all of the tricks, timers and extended warranties. If funds are no issue these top of the line machines are an excellent investment and will certainly impress friends, family and colleagues alike.
Alternatively, in each category there are some excellent “budget buys”, with high quality styling, reliable performance, and decent warranties which also crank out really good quality coffee consistently.
If you need to spend a little more upfront, to buy a coffee machine that suits your drinking preferences, and meets social expectations so that you will really use it, then that is what you should do. Saving money on a machine that you will not use, or enjoy makes No sense, but too many people do it.
Do you demand Ease of Use?
You know how much involvement you prefer to have in making your morning coffee. For some, dropping a Pod into a Single serve coffee maker or spooning some grounds into a French Press is really about all that you are interested in doing.
If this is you, the extra focus needed to make a decent Espresso, or the time taken to brew a quality coffee may be more than you can face.
There is no way around the issue if you are an Espresso fan, but, of course, for a few extra dollars you can buy a quality coffee maker with pre-program options that will have coffee ready for you, and your family at the required time.
What are your Space Requirements?
Whatever type or standard of Coffee Maker you are after, don’t overlook the size of its footprint. Will it fit comfortably on your counter, below you cupboards etc without making either your Kitchen or the Coffee Maker itself unusable.
What Optional Features do you need?
People have such varied expectations of what makes a great coffee, that the market has responded with a wide range of features, options, and accessories to give you exactly what you are looking for, provided you are willing to pay for it .
Programming
Do you need to set you machine and leave it to produce Coffee as you want, in the quantity you want, when you want it? If so invest in a coffee maker with programmable settings.
Warmers
Once brewed, do you want your coffee to stay hot and be available whenever you need it? If so a Thermal Carafe and one or more coffee warmers are a must. This is especially true in an office situation
Safety Shutoff
Busy people, both at home and work can so easily start the brewing process and be taken away by something more important. An automatic shut off feature gives peace of mind that you Coffee Maker will not be running all day when life’s emergencies get in the way
Coffee Grinder
Many people appreciate the enhanced taste of coffee made from freshly ground beans. If this is you, a built-in grinder or a stand-alone grinder to accompany your Coffee Maker is a sensible choice. An onboard grinder can save some space, although many small, storable models are also available
We highly recommend taking a long term view of your Coffee maker purchase. Don’t buy a machine you won’t use just to “save ” a few bucks. Better to chose the style of machine you really want, and include the features that you have to have (so that you will really use it). If buying all that in a top of the line machine sits comfortably within your means, just do it. If not, consider the high quality, budget priced options also contained in these pages.
Either way, you will enjoy the style of coffee you prefer, with a level of involvement you can maintain, and at a price you can afford
Thanks for the clear overview of the best coffee machine s out there! A very useful list. I have to say that the Bonavita BV1800 8-Cup Coffee Maker is still my favourite 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Peter
Thanks for the amazing review. Much appreciated 🙂
Thanks
I can vouch for the Black and Decker Brew n Go. I have had one for years (actually this is my second one), maybe 10 years or longer. It is so handy to make just one cup. I think mine cost $15. It brews very hot and is easy to clean.
Been using the Bonavita for two years and still love it. Had three different Cuisanart systems, and am quite surprised to hear it was #2.What made me switch was the fact that none of them could brew my favorite coffee properly. Switched to the Bonavita because it could. Looked at the Moccamaster, but just couldn’t justify the expense.
Good reviews. I really like the Bunn coffee makers! Thanks!
wow, that was really detailed and useful article. I loved the scientific research about the coffee makers in the first video. I think a good decision is to go with the Moccamaster KBGT 10-Cup Coffee.
Great help, I bought Bonavita and it is amazing! Cheers!
Had a Melita two cup coffee maker for years, but now can’t find a replacement for my single person household use.
I intend to try the Black and Decker single serve, as a replacement which will allow use of ground coffee, vice the
Keurig K pods I am now using.
